About Us

Who Are VSP Workshops?

VSP Workshops is a UK registered Limited Company with our registered office in London. In 2002, the company was first formed, originally known as ‘The Venice School of Photography’ on account of the fact that the founder, Jonathan Maher, lives in Venice. Over the years we started running workshops and tours outside of Italy and Europe, and so the decision was made to change our name to ‘VSP Workshops’. Jonathan runs the majority of the trips, but occasionally we invite other photographers to teach. Our approach is simple, but one that comes with years of experience in running photo tours and workshops. We just make sure we find the perfect balance between holiday and hobby. We make sure our customers get to see things they wouldn’t otherwise have seen, and we ensure that our itineraries get you to the best spots at the best time of day. We constantly work to refine our itineraries, ensuring that we know where the best places to photograph are, and we organize shoots that you just wouldn’t be able to experience if you travel on your own.

Teaching is obviously a big part of what we do, and this requires we keep the group sizes to a sensible size. Generally are groups are between 8-12 people, sometimes a little more if the format of the workshop permits. We aim to conduct daily image discussions sessions, and we feel that what you learn from your fellow participants is as important as what you learn from the instructor.
